Jim Furyk Disqualified from The Barclays for Missing Tee-Time

PARAMUS, N.J. — Jim Furyk, the world’s #6 golfer, has been disqualified from The Barclays this weekend for missing his 7:30 a.m. EDT tee time for Wednesday’s pro-am. Professional golfer, Jim Furyk, is rated #6 in the world.

Furyk said that he overslept Wednesday after his cell phone alarm clock lost power overnight which caused him to be late for his pro-am tee time in The Barclays. Due to a PGA Tour policy on pro-ams adopted in 2004, PGA Tour officials had no choice but to disqualify him.

The PGA Tour adopted its policy on pro-ams in 2004 and now players are automatically disqualified from the tournament if they miss the pro-am except for injury or family emergency.

“I’m kicking myself,” Furyk said. “I have a way of climbing into situations that are all my fault.”

Although he said he was upset about not playing Ridgewood or the tournament, Furyk said the worst of his disqualification was “to possibly, severely hurt a good year.”

“I played my heart out all year,” Furyk said. “I’ve got no one to blame but myself.”
