Retired NFL quarterback Kurt Warner told the NFL Network on Monday, Jan 3, that Brett Favre has hurt his legacy, at least in the short term. Kurt Warner, a popular speaker at PFP Talent, discusses Brett Favre legacy.
“I think he did [tarnish his legacy],” Warner said. “Not only this season, but the last few seasons, going back and forth [on retirement] and bouncing to a few different teams. I think about it, and I have to really think hard to think back to when he was a Green Bay Packer and when he played his best football and was in Super Bowls and when he became the Brett Favre we all know.”
Warner added that he hopes that people will forget about Favre’s years in Minnesota and the “chaos that’s happened the last couple of years,” but “he definitely hurt his legacy” in the short-term.
Brett Favre officially announced his retirement from the NFL on Sunday, January 2, 2011.
“One game, one season does not define me,” Favre said. “There will be people saying it’s a shame you went out that way, this and that. I am truly grateful for the opportunity that, by the grace of God, I got a chance to play this game and play it at a high level and I’m honored. I hope that people admired the way I played, my passion for it, because I hold no regrets.”
