Brent Musburger has enjoyed a long and successful career as a sports broadcaster. He worked for CBS Sports from 1973-1990 and called many big events, including the World Series, Super Bowl, NBA Finals, The Masters, Final Four and U.S. Open. He is credited with popularizing the phrase “March Madness” and was part of the original group of sportscasters that appeared on The NFL Today. Musburger moved to ABC Sports and ESPN in 1990 and continued to provide play-by-play for major sporting events such as Monday Night Football, British Open, Belmont Stakes, Indianapolis 500 and the college football championship game. Musburger currently serves as managing editor of the Vegas Sports & Information Network and hosts a program on the network called My Guys in the Desert. He is also the play-by-play radio voice of the Oakland Raiders.
Musburger was raised in Billings, Montana and graduated from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University. While in Chicago, he worked for the Chicago American newspaper, WBBM Radio and WBBM-TV. Musburger has been recognized for his work and was the recipient of the Sports Lifetime Achievement Award in 2016. He’s also a member of the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Hall of Fame and Montana Broadcaster’s Association Hall of Fame. Musburger has made cameo appearances in numerous movies, including Rocky II, Waterboy, Cars 2, Planes and The Main Event.
