Fuzzy Zoeller is a former professional golfer who won two majors during his career, both in playoffs - the Masters in 1979 and U.S. Open in 1984. By winning the Masters, he became just one of three golfers along with Gene Sarazen and Horton Smith — and the first since 1935 — to emerge victorious in his first appearance. His first PGA Tour victory was at the1979 Andy Williams-San Diego Invitational and, in total for his career, Zoeller won 10 tournaments on the PGA Tour and two on the PGA Tour Champions.
Zoeller placed second at the 1981 PGA Championship but did win the Colonial National Invitation event that same year. After a pair of victories in 1983, Zoeller won the U.S. Open in 1984, winning the Bob Jones Award in 1985 in recognition of his good sportsmanship. Zoeller’s most successful PGA Tour season win-wise came in 1986 when he won a career-high three events - the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am, Sea Pines Heritage and Anheuser-Busch Golf Classic. Zoeller competed in three Ryder Cups and was a member of the 1979 and 1983 U.S. champion teams. Later in his career when he joined the Champions Tour, Zoeller won the 2002 Senior PGA Championship and 2004 MasterCard Championship.
