Harold Baines is a retired designated hitter and outfielder who is best remembered for his time with the Chicago White Sox from 1980-1989, 1996-1997 and 2000-2001). He also played for the Texas Rangers (1989-1990), Oakland A’s (1990-1992), Baltimore Orioles (1993-1995, 1997-1999, 2000) and Cleveland Indians (1999).

Baines hit better than .300 on eight occasions and, at the time of his retirement, was in 7th place all-time in MLB history in the total number of games played at 2,830. Baines was named an All-Star six times and won a Silver Slugger Award in 1989. He became a member of the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2019. He’s also a member of the Orioles Hall of Fame.

After retiring from playing, Baines worked for the White Sox as a coach from 2004-2015. He won a World Series with the team in 2005. In 2008, Baines had a statue unveiled in his honor at U.S. Cellular Field. Baines was born on March 15, 1959 in Easton Maryland and attended St. Michaels High School, where he was a high-school All-American after hitting .532 his senior year. He was selected in the 1977 draft by the White Sox with the 1st pick overall.
