Jim Furyk is a professional golfer who has been a member of the PGA Tour since 1994. He has won 17 PGA Tour events including the 2003 U.S. Open. Between 1999 and 2016, Furyk was ranked in the top 10 of the Official World Golf Rankings for more than 440 weeks and got as high as #2 in the world in 2006.
Furyk has the distinction of shooting the lowest round ever in a PGA Tour event when he shot a 58 at the Travelers Championship in 2016. His 2010 season was arguably Furyk’s best when he won three tournaments along with the FedEx Cup. In honor of his accomplishments, Furyk was named the 2010 PGA Player of the Year and PGA Tour Player of the Year. He also won the Payne Stewart Award in 2016 and served as captain of the U.S. Ryder Cup team in 2018.
Furyk was born in West Chester, Pennsylvania and learned the game of golf from his father who worked as a golf pro. Furyk competed collegiately at the University of Arizona where was a two-time All-American and helped lead the school to its first and only NCAA championship in 1992. Furyk turned pro in 1992 and competed on the Nike Tour before beginning play on the PGA Tour.
