Kasey Keller is a retired soccer goaltender who played for the United States Men’s National Team between 1990 – 2007, including four FIFA World Cup tournaments. Keller’s 102 career caps and 53 total wins ranks second all-time among U.S. goalies, trailing only Tim Howard, while his 47 shutouts rank first. In 2002, 2005 and 2007, Keller helped the U.S. to first place finishes at the CONCACAF Gold Cup. Keller in 1999 and 2005 was selected as the Honda Player of the Year. Similarly, he was honored as the U.S. Soccer Athlete of the Year by the United States Soccer Federation in 1997, 1999 and 2005. In 2015, Keller became a member of the National Soccer Hall of Fame.
From 2009-2011, Keller played for Major League Soccer’s Seattle Sounders. He led the team to three consecutive U.S. Open Cup titles in every season he spent with the team and, in 2011, was named the MLS Goalkeeper of the Year. Keller additionally played extensively overseas in England with Millwall (1992-1996), Leicester City (1996-1999), Tottenham Hotspur (2001-2005), Southampton (2004) and Fulham (2007-2008). From 1999-2001, he also played in Spain with Rayo Vallecano while from 2005-2007, he played in Germany for Borussia Monchengladbach. After retiring from playing, Keller worked as a broadcast analyst for Sounders’ games and as an assistant soccer coach at Newport High School in Bellevue, Washington.
