The most decorated snowboarder in the sport’s history, Shaun White won three Olympic gold medals in the halfpipe event in 2006, 2010 and 2018. He is also the only person in snowboarding history to score a perfect 100 in the SuperPipe at the Winter X Games, a feat he accomplished in 2012. A world-class skateboarder as well, White became the first athlete to compete in both the Winter and Summer X Games and won a total of 23 medals between the two events, including 15 gold medals, and is the winningest athlete in X Games history. Born on September 3, 1986 in San Diego, California, White began skiing at an early age, switched to snowboarding when he was six years old and turned pro at the age of 13.
As a testament to his popularity, White has been the face of numerous video games, including Shaun White Snowboarding and Shaun White Skateboarding. He is also an 11-time winner at the ESPY’s for Best Male U.S. Olympic Athlete and Best Male Action Sports Athlete. In 2008, he was awarded Action Sportsperson of the Year by the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation. Away from competition, White formed Shawn White Enterprises to oversee his business ventures and philanthropic efforts. In 2016 he purchased an ownership stake in Mammoth Resorts. He’s also the majority owner in Air + Style, a festival that features skateboarding, snowboarding and music. An avid musician, White has played guitar in the band “Bad Things”.
