Vinny Testaverde played quarterback in the NFL from 1987-2007 with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1987-1992), Cleveland Browns (1993-1995), Baltimore Ravens (1996-1997), New York Jets (1998-2003, 2005), Dallas Cowboys (2004), New England Patriots (2006) and Carolina Panthers (2007). The first overall selection in the 1987 NFL Draft out of the University of Miami, Testaverde in 1996 earned his first Pro Bowl selection, throwing for a career-high 4,177 yards as well as 33 touchdowns while completing 59.2 of his passes. The 1998 season saw Testaverde once more selected to the Pro Bowl, as he set a high-water mark in touchdown to interception ratio with 29:7 while posting a career-best 101.6 passer rating.
Testaverde enjoyed a storied college career for the Hurricanes. After backing-up Bernie Kosar for two seasons, he took over the starting quarterback job as a senior 1986 and earned a wide array of accolades, including the Heisman Trophy, Maxwell Award, Davey O’Brien Award and Walter Camp Award. He also was named an All-American and Player of the Year by both United Press International and the Sporting News. He became a member of the University of Miami Sports Hall of Fame in 1998 and was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2013. After his playing career ended, Testaverde coached quarterbacks at Jesuit High School in Tampa, Florida.
