FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. — This years edition of HBO Sports’ documentary series Hard Knocks will feature a behind the scenes look at the Atlanta Falcons. A thirty person NFL team crew will be at team headquarters in Flower Branch, Georgia, shooting more than 1500 hours of footage. The Cincinnati Bengals were feature last season. Training camp with the Falcons debuts Tuesday, August 5, from 10:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. ET/PT.
“Hard Knocks” is a reality sports documentary television series produced by NFL Films and HBO. The show was first broadcast in 2001, and the current 2014 season is the nineth. Each season, the documentary follows an NFL team through its training camp and covers the team’s preparation for the upcoming football season. The series shows the personal and professional lives of the players, coaches and staff, including their family life, position battles, and even inside jokes and pranks. It particularly focuses on rookies’ adjustments to playing in the NFL.
According to Ian Rappaport at Rapsheet, The Falcons volunteered to be on the show this year. The annual show had been courting the Falcons for several years and this year just happened to be the year the Falcons said yes. Hard Knocks is now in its ninth season. The show will give the Falcons great publicity.

The Atlanta Falcons joined the NFL in 1965 and have appeared in one championship game – Super Bowl XXXIII. The Falcons play in the NFC South Division along with the Carolina Panthers, New Orleans Saints and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Among their most famous players include Steve Bartkowski, Matt Ryan, Billy “White Shoes” Johnson, Jamal Anderson, Warrick Dunn, Dan Reeves and Roddy White.
