Bobby Cox, former MLB third baseman and manager, speaks with the Baseball Hall of Fame in his first interview after being elected to the Induction Class of 2014. He talks about getting the call and preparing for the Summer of 2014.
In the interview, Cox was asked what it was like getting the phone call that he had been inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame, and what was it like to stand in that room and see the other two guys (Tony LaRussa & Joe Torre) walk in knowing it was the three of you.
Cox told the interviewer, “I got the call from Jane at 8:30 in the morning … she said Bobby, you’re in the Hall of Fame and I got goosebumps. “You come in hoping with your fingers crossed you’re going to be in the Hall, but I never let myself get too pumped up about it.” Cox went on to say, “I hope Joe and Tony walk in this room … and they both did.”
