TAMPA, FL — Former MLB manager, Tony LaRussa, was named the keynote speaker on December 18, 2014 at the Boys and Girls Clubs of Tampa Bay Great Futures Breakfast held at the Amalie Arena in Tampa. LaRussa spoke of his youth spent at the Boys and Girls Clubs, and how much it benefited his life. He also spoke with 10 News Sports Anchor Dave Wirth about Kevin Cash, the new manager of the Tampa Bay Rays, and the latest in the line of Tampa-born MLB managers.The benefit raised over $700,000 for clubs. Gooden, nicknamed “Dr. K”, is a former MLB pitcher who played for the New York Mets and the New York Yankees in the mid and late 1980s.
