MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Former University of Tennessee men’s basketball coach, Bruce Pearl, will be this year’s keynote speaker at the Middle Tennessee men’s basketball Tip-off Celebration scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 23. The event will begin at 6 p.m. in the ballroom on the second floor of the student union on the Middle Tennessee campus.
“I’m just really excited about coming to Murfreesboro and visiting with the Blue Raider fans,” Pearl said. “I’ve followed MTSU basketball for many years; I’ve competed against the Blue Raiders and have a genuine fondness and respect for Coach Davis and his program.”
Head coach Kermit Davis said, “We think this is a fantastic way to tip-off our basketball season. It was a huge success last year. I’m tickled to death to have Bruce Pearl from ESPN join us. It will be a great celebration for our team this year with highlight tapes, great entertainment and I think something that the Blue Raider fans will really look forward to.”
The event will serve as a kickoff to the 2013-14 hoops season. The event will feature Pearl as the keynote speaker, the musical stylings of current MT player Tweety Knight, the Blue Raider cheerleaders, the pep band and the conference championship MT men’s basketball team.
