GREEN BAY, WI. — Seattle Seahawks wide receiver, Golden Tate, says he’s prepared to hear decibel breaking boos from the Packer’s fans tonight as he comes out of the visiting tunnel onto Lambeau field in a much anticipated return rematch. Fans haven’t forgotten last year’s controversial last-second touchdown called “Fail Mary,” that cost the Packers the game. Seatlle Seahawks, wide receiver, Golden Tate prepares for boos from Packer’s fans when he meets Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field on August 23, 2013 in a much anticipated rematch.
The nickname “Fail Mary” has now become part of the Packers vernacular. For those who remember the play, Seahawks quarterback, Russell Wilson, took the fourth-down snap with eight seconds left on the clock, and threw a ‘Hail Mary’. The Packers argued that the ball was intercepted by Packers safety M.D. Jennings, but the referee, Lance Easley, ruled Tate made a touchdown which won the game for Seattle, 14-12.
The controversial call changed the playoff seeding that year and made the difference in home field advantage between the Packers and the 49ers in the divisional playoffs.
After the Seahawks blowout performance in last weeks preseason game against the Broncos, can Seattle do a repeat performance tonight against Aaron Rodgers and Green Bay.
This is one game NFL fans do not want to miss.
