NFL great Jerry Rice is scheduled to make a cameo appearance in the fourth episode of the the upcoming sixth season of the show according to Entertainment Weekly. Rice will reportedly “run into the Five-0 team when Steve McGarrett (Alex O’Loughlin) and the gang are relaxing after a hard day of catching Hawaii’s bad guys.” Source: Digital Spy.
Hawaii Five-0’s executive producer Peter Lenkov stated, “Jerry Rice is an NFL legend, as well as just an outstanding gentleman, and we are so glad to have him join the Five-0 ohana for this episode. “And considering McGarrett and Chin’s (Daniel Dae Kim) former glory days of high school football and the team’s annual football games, perhaps Jerry can give them a few pointers.” Hawaii Five-0 will premiere its sixth season on September 25 on CBS.
Jerry Rice is a former wide receiver who played twenty seasons in the NFL. He won three Super Bowl rings playing for the San Francisco 49ers and an AFC Championship with the Oakland Raiders. He is widely considered to be the greatest wide receiver in NFL history and among the greatest NFL players at any position. On November 4, 2010, Rice was chosen by NFL Network’s NFL Films production The Top 100: NFL’s Greatest Players as the greatest player in NFL history. He is the all-time leader in most major statistical categories for wide receivers and the all-time NFL leader in receptions, touchdown receptions, and yards.
Rice was selected to the Pro Bowl 13 times (1986–1996, 1998, 2002) and named All-Pro 12 times in his 20 NFL seasons. Rice was selected for induction in the Pro Football Hall of Fame class of 2010 in his first year of eligibility. He was inducted in Canton, Ohio on August 7, 2010 alongside Emmitt Smith, Floyd Little, Russ Grimm, Rickey Jackson, Dick LeBeau, and John Randle. On September 20, 2010, during halftime at the 49ers-Saints game, Rice’s #80 jersey number was retired. Rice was also a popular contestant on the second season of Dancing with the Stars. He and his dance partner Anna Trebunskaya made it to the final before losing out to Drew Lachey and Cheryl Burke.
