Did former Bronco’s quarterback, John Elway, return last night to complete 7 touchdown passes against the Ravens? According to the Friday edition of The Columbus Dispatch, it wasn’t Peyton Manning who threw the passes, but instead Denver Broncos executive vice president of football operations, John Elway, now 53 years old who was the hero. The Columbus Dispatch mistakenly prints it was former Denver Broncos quarterback, John Elway, not Peyton Manning, who threw 7 touchdown passes against the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday, Sept 5, 2013.
Of course, anyone who watched the game knows it was Peyton Manning at the helm who threw seven TD passes in a 49-27 win over the Baltimore Ravens to tie the NFL record.
Dispatch editor Marrison tweeted:
The definition of a bad morning: Seeing this headline. I knew Elway was good, but not THAT good.
The newspaper’s obvious blunder will go down as one of sports most hilarious bloopers.
Watch 2012 video where Stephen A. Smith and Skip Bayless discuss John Elway’s comments about how well Peyton Manning is throwing the ball.
John Elway and the Denver Broncos won their first Super Bowl title by defeating the Green Bay Packers 31–24 in Super Bowl XXXII. In the following season, Elway and the Broncos repeated as champions in Super Bowl XXXIII by defeating the Atlanta Falcons 34–19. He was voted MVP of that Super Bowl, which would prove to be the last game of his career. Elway is currently Executive Vice President of Football Operations for the Denver Broncos and was instrumental in procuring Peyton Manning as the Denver Bronco’s current quarterback, but in the end they lost a heartbreaking game to the Baltimore Ravens in the 2013 playoffs.
