The Golf Channel’s realty show, Big Break, will now include retired NFL players Jerry Rice and Tim Brown, who will team up with with male and female golfers trying to earn tour cards. The reality show was filmed in Puerto Rico, and is scheduled to premiere on Oct. 8, 2013. Also featured with Rice and Brown are former NFL players, Marc Bulger, Al Del Greco, Chris Doleman and Mark Rypien, all with single-digit handicaps.
Rice said in a statement, “I have been a fan of Big Break for a long time, and I wanted to experience the pressure and excitement of competing on this series first-hand. The nerves we all faced on this show – knowing that everything potentially was on the line for your team with one golf shot – are experiences I will never forget.”
Rice, who is no stranger to reality T.V, appeared on “Dancing With The Stars” in 2006. He was paired with pro dancer, Anna Trebunskaya, and came in second place behind Drew Lachey and Cheryl Burke. He returns to the show often as a guest commentator along with Kenny Mayne, a sports journalist and comedian, for comic relief.
The retired NFL players will be playing for $50,000 donations for their individual charities, while the golfers they are teamed with are trying to make it to the pro tours.
