RIDGEWOOD, N.J. — Olympic Gold medalist and star soccer player Alex Morgan will be appearing at a book signing on Tuesday, May 7, at the Bookends in Ridgewood, NJ. The signing is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m. She will be signing copies of “Saving the Team,” in which a twelve-year old girl moves from Connecticut to California, leaving her old friends and soccer team behind. In California, she is faced with the challenges of playing on a new soccer team that has a coach who doesn’t care whether the team wins or loses. Along the way, she makes new friends, thus allowing her to save the team from itself.
As a member of the U.S. Olympic women’s soccer team at the 2012 Summer Olympics, Morgan helped lead the Americans to a gold medal. In the final, a 2–1 win against Japan, Morgan assisted on a Carli Lloyd header. For her excellence on the field, U.S. Soccer announced Morgan as the 2012 Female Athlete of the Year. Prior to the Olympics in 2011, she was the first overall pick for the National Women’s Soccer League. She currently plays for the Portland Thorns FC.
