Bo Jackson vs. Deion Sanders: It’s been an ongoing debate as to who was the better two-sport athlete star. Sports analysts Hugh Douglas, Michael Smith and Jalen Rose seem to be split on this one, What do you think?
Deion Sanders’s achievements are impressive. Entering his first season as a pro athlete, he accomplished remarkable feats that no other athlete has accomplished. On September 5, 1989, as a Yankee, Deion hit a homerun against the Seattle Mariners. Later that week on September 10, 1989, Deion made a punt return for the Atlanta Falcons for a touchdown against the Los Angeles Rams. He won two Super Bowls with both the 49ers and the Cowboys in 1994 and 1995 and participated in the 1992 World Series with the Braves.
Bo Jackson was the first athlete to be named an All-Star in two major American sports. Bo’s legend started in college. In 1985, he won the Heisman Trophy while at Auburn and is considered one of the greatest players ever to play college football. In 2007, he ranked #8 on ESPN’s list of the Top 25 Players In College Football History. During his career at Auburn, he rushed for 4,303 yards, which puts him fourth all-time in rushing yards in the SEC behind Herschel Walker. Bo went on to play football for the Oakland Raiders and baseball for the Kansas City Royals, Chicago White Sox and California Angels. And who can forget the Monday Night Football game in 1987 when Bo ran over Seahawks linebacker Brian Bosworth on his way to a MNF-record 221 rushing performance.
