Andre Reed played wide receiver in the NFL for 16 seasons from 1985-2000, primarily for the Buffalo Bills (1985-1999) but also the Washington Redskins (2000). Reed was a seven-time Pro Bowl selection each year from 1988-1994 and three times earned second-team All-Pro honors. He produced over 1,000 yards of receiving in four different seasons and, in total for his career, amassed 951 receptions for 13,198 yards and 87 touchdowns. At the time of his retirement, Reed ranked second all-time in NFL history for receptions in a career. He became a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2014. Reed is also part of the Bills’ Walk of Fame and was named to their 50th season All-Time Team.
Born on January 29, 1964 in Allentown, Pennsylvania, Reed played college football at NCAA Division II school Kutztown before being picked by Buffalo in the 4th round of the 1985 NFL Draft. Reed would become an integral member of the Bills dynasty of the early 1990s that also featured future Hall of Famers Jim Kelly, Bruce Smith and Thurman Thomas and made four consecutive trips to the Super Bowl. Although Buffalo went on to lose all four of its title game appearances, Reed was a consistent performer in the championship game and caught 27 passes overall, a number that trails only San Francisco’s Jerry Rice for the most total career receptions in a Super Bowl. After his playing days ended, Reed worked as an NFL analyst for ESPN 2 and NFL on Fox. He also made appearances on several tv shows, including “MacGyver”, “Hawaii Five-O” and “Magnum PI”.
