Carl Edwards is a stock car racing driver who won 28 races with 223 top 10 finishes and 22 pole position between 2004-2016 on the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series (formerly Sprint Cup Series and Nextel Cup Series). In 2011, Edwards finished runner-up to Tony Stewart for the Sprint Cup Series title after losing a tie-breaker. He also notched 38 victories and 174 top 10 finishes and one championship in 2007 on the NASCAR Xfinity Series (formerly Busch Series).
Edwards competed full-time on the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series in 2003 and was named Rookie of the Year after winning three races. The next year he made his debut on the Nextel Cup Series and, in 2005, began competing full time in the Busch Series and Nextel Cup Series. On March 19, 2005, Edward recorded his first win on the Busch Series at the Aaron’s 312 and the next day won his first Nextel Cup Series race at the Golden Corral 500. With the two wins, Edwards became the first driver in NASCAR history to record his first Busch Series and Nextel Cup Series wins in one weekend. During his career, Edwards received a host of honors, including NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Rookie of the Year (2003), NASCAR Busch Series Rookie of the Year (2005) and NASCAR Busch Series Most Popular Driver (2007). He was inducted into the Ozarks Area Racers Foundation Hall of Fame in 2018.
