Dan Patrick is one of America’s most popular sports broadcast personalities. A graduate of the University of Dayton, Patrick got his start as a radio deejay in Dayton in the late 1970s and early 1980s before working as a sports reporter for CNN from 1983-1989. Patrick joined ESPN and worked as an anchor on SportsCenter from 1989-2006. Patrick, along with his partner Keith Olbermann, became one of the most popular and recognizable personalities in network history and are credited with creating the show’s now signature phrase “This is SportsCenter.”
Patrick hosted his own show on ESPN Radio, The Dan Patrick Show, starting in 1999 and continuing until he left the network in 2007. Today, the television and radio show is currently syndicated by Premiere Radio Networks and can be found on B/R Live, several AT&T SportsNet affiliates, DirectTV’s Audience Network and SiriusXM Radio. In 2008, Patrick joined NBC Sports for its NFL game broadcast as co-host of Football Night in America. He was the trophy presenter to the winning team in Super Bowls XLIII, XLIV and XLIX and also provided commentary for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver as well as the 2010 and 2011 Stanley Cups. Additionally, Patrick hosted Sports Jeopardy! from 2014-2016. In 2017, Full Sail University in Florida announced the creation of the Dan Patrick School of Sportscasting. In 1997, Patrick received the Distinguished Alumni Award from the University of Dayton.
