Julius Peppers is a retired defensive end who played in the NFL from 2002-18 for the Carolina Panthers (2002-09, 2017-18), Chicago Bears (2010-13) and Green Bay Packers (2014-16). He was a nine-time Pro Bowl selection, three-time first-team All-Pro and three-time second-team All-Pro. He was the 2002 NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year and named to the NFL 2000s All-Decade Team.

Peppers was selected by the Panthers with the second overall pick in the 2002 NFL draft out of the University of North Carolina, where he was a two-time first-team All-ACC pick and a unanimous All-American in 2001. That same year he won the Chuck Bednarik Award as the nation’s top collegiate defensive player and Lombardi Award as the nation’s top collegiate player. In three seasons in Chapel Hill, Peppers started 33 of 34 games and is ranked second all-time in school history with 30.5 sacks. Peppers also walked-on the UNC basketball team and was a reserve when the Tar Heels reached the Final Four during the 1999-2000 season.

Peppers was raised in Bailey, North Carolina. During is senior year at Southern Nash Senior High School, he was named by the North Carolina High School Athletic Association as the Male Athlete of the Year.
