Kurt Rambis is a NBA coach and former player. He enjoyed a 15-year career as a player, primarily for the Los Angeles Lakers. During his first stint in L.A. from 1981-88, Rambis won four NBA titles with the Lakers in 1982, 1985, 1987 and 1988. As a power forward, Rambis averaged 5.2 points and 5.6 rebounds per game over his career but was renowned for his effort and defensive prowess. Between 1989 and 1993, he played for the Phoenix Suns and Charlotte Hornets before finishing his playing days with L.A. from 1993-95. After retiring, he hit the ground running and became an assistant to the Lakers from 1994-2009, winning three additional championships as a coach in 2001, 2002 and 2009.

Rambis played collegiately for Santa Clara from 1976-80 and his number 34 was retired by the university. Before being drafted in the NBA, he played overseas in Greece in 1980-81, winning the 1981 Greek Cup with AEK Athens in the process. Rambis was head coach of the Minnesota Timberwolves from 2009-11 and was a coach for the New York Knicks from 2014-18 before returning to the Lakers that same year. Outside of basketball, he has enjoyed multiple small acting roles throughout the years.
