Kyle Petty is a former professional stock car racing driver who competed from 1979-2008. A third generation professional driver, Petty is the son of Richard Petty, who raced from 1958-1992 and grandson of NASCAR pioneer Lee Petty. Petty debuted in 1979, winning the Daytona ARCA 200, his very first race. In 31 years of competing in the NASCAR Cup Series, Petty participated in 829 races, the first being the 1979 Talladega 500 and his last coming at the 2008 Checker O’Reilly Auto Parts 500 in Phoenix.

During that time, he recorded eight wins and 173 top ten finishes. In 1992 and 1993, Petty finished a career-best fifth place in points in back-to-back seasons. Petty earned eight poles, a prime starting position given to whoever recorded the best qualifying time in pre-race trials. He competed in the NASCAR Xfinity Series for 14 years during his career, registering 10 top ten finishes in points. He also briefly competed in NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Racing in 1997, racing in the The No Fear Challenge. Outside of racing, Petty has been involved in various charitable organizations, notably Victory Junction, a facility that serves children with serious and chronic medical conditions and illnesses. He was also signed to RCA Records as a country music artist briefly in the 1980s.
