Philip Rivers has played quarterback for the Los Angeles Chargers since 2004 and has been one of the most consistent and productive players in the NFL during his time as a pro. He has been named to the Pro Bowl eight times and was the 2013 NFL Comeback Player of the Year. Rivers took over the starting duties in 2006 after serving as backup to Drew Brees for two seasons. In 2007, Rivers led the Chargers to their first playoff victory since 1994 and a spot in the AFC Championship Game. Rivers has enjoyed a stellar career with numerous milestones – he led the NFL in passer rating and was tied for the most passing touchdowns in 2008, led the NFL in passing yards in 2010 and led the AFC in passing yards in 2015.

Rivers was born in Decatur, Alabama and went to Athens High School before playing college football at North Carolina State. During his time in college, Rivers led the Wolfpack to four straight bowl games and set numerous ACC and school passing records in route to finishing his college career ranked 2nd all-time among Division I college quarterbacks with 13,484 passing yards. Rivers was named ACC Player of the Year in 2003 and ACC Athlete of the Year in 2004. Rivers was originally drafted by the New York Giants in the 1st round of the 2004 draft but was traded to the Chargers for Eli Manning.
