Gary Zimmerman is a retired NFL offensive tackle who played in the league from 1986-1997 with the Minnesota Vikings (1986-1992) and Denver Broncos (1993-1997). During his career Zimmerman was seven times selected to the Pro Bowl and became a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2008. He also earned five first-team All-Pro and three second-time All-Pro selections. To cap his last professional season in 1997, Zimmerman won a championship blocking for quarterback John Elway as the Broncos defeated the Brett Favre-led Green Bay Packers in Super Bowl XXXII.
Named to both the NFL 1980s and 1990s All-Decade Teams, Zimmerman is a member of the Broncos Ring of Fame and was named one of the 50 Greatest Vikings of all-time. Before joining the NFL, Zimmerman spent the 1984 and 1985 seasons playing for the Los Angeles Express of the United States Football League (USFL), where he earned all-USFL honors both years. He is one of four former USFL players - the others being Jim Kelly, Reggie White and Steve Young - who went on to have Hall of Fame NFL careers. Zimmerman played college football for the Oregon Ducks and in 1983 won the Morris Trophy, an honor which is awarded annually to the best lineman in the Pac-12 Conference. He was inducted into the Oregon Sports Hall of Fame in 2002.
