Kirk Ferentz has served as head coach of the Iowa Hawkeyes football team since 1999. Under his leadership, Iowa has won two Big 10 Conference titles (2002, 2004) and the Big 10 West Division in 2015. For three straight years from 2002-2004, Iowa finished the season as the No. 8 team in the nation. He led the Hawkeyes to an 11-2 record in 2002 and was named the AP College Football Coach of the Year while also winning the Walter Camp Coach of the Year Award that same year.

Ferentz has four times been named the Big 10 Conference Coach of the Year in 2002, 2004, 2009 and 2015. The latter year, he was honored with the Bobby Dodd, Eddie Robinson, AFCA Region 3 and Woody Hayes Coach of the Year awards. That year, Iowa won 12 games, the most under Ferentz, finished as the No. 10 team in the nation and appeared in the Rose Bowl.

Prior to Iowa, Ferentz was an offensive line coach in the NFL with the Baltimore Ravens (1996-1998) and Cleveland Browns (1993-1995). From 1990-1992, he was head coach at the University of Maine, while from 1981-1989, he was Iowa’s offensive line coach. In September of 2018, he became the winningest coach in Iowa program history. Ferentz attended college at the University of Connecticut, where he was a linebacker from 1974-1976.
