Ned Jarrett is a retired race car driver who enjoyed an illustrious career while competing in the NASCAR Grand National Series from 1953-1966. Jarrett in 1998 was named one of NASCAR’s 50 Greatest Drivers and, in 2011, was inducted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame. Similarly, he is a member of the Motorsports Hall of Fame America (1997), National Auto Racing Hall of Fame (1992) and International Motorsports Hall of Fame (1991).

In 1961, Jarrett participated in 46 races, placing in the top five 22 times and in the top 10 36 times in route to winning that year’s NASCAR Grand National Series. He would go on to win another Grand National Series in 1965 after he recorded 13 first-place finishes. In 1957 and 1958, Jarrett won back-to-back Sportsman Division Championships while in 1964 and 1965, he led all Grand National Series drivers in wins in consecutive seasons. In 1964, 1965, 1982 and 1983, Jarrett won the Myers Brothers Memorial Award, recognizing his contributions to stock car racing.

After his racing days concluded, Jarrett embarked on a broadcasting career and he was recognized for his success behind the mic with induction into the National Motorsports Press Association Hall of Fame (1972) as well as the American Auto Race Writers & Broadcasters Hall of Fame (1992). He is the father of former NASCAR driver Dale Jarrett.
