Sterling Sharpe played wide receiver in the NFL and spent his entire career from 1988-1994 with the Green Bay Packers. Sharpe is a member of the Packers Hall of Fame and was highly decorated during his career as he earned five Pro Bowl selections and was three times named first-team All Pro in 1989, 1992 and 1993. In every one of his All-Pro seasons, Sharpe led the NFL in receptions.
He had an exceptional 1992 campaign as he captured a receiving Triple Crown, leading the NFL in receptions (108), yards (1,461) and touchdown catches (13). He is one of just seven NFL players to ever achieve the feat, joining Raymond Berry, Ray Flaherty, Don Hutson, Jerry Rice, Elroy Hirsch and Steve Smith. His average of 91.3 yards of receiving per game for the 1992 season also led the NFL and was a career best. In five of his seven NFL seasons, Sharpe recorded at least 1,000 receiving yards.
Sharpe enjoyed a successful college football career at South Carolina. By the time he left the Gamecocks program en route to being a 1st round pick in the 1988 NFL Draft, Sharpe had set South Carolina school career records for touchdowns (17), receptions (169) and receiving yards (2,497). His jersey #2 has been retired by the Gamecocks and in 2014, he was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. He is the older brother of Hall of Fame tight end Shannon Sharpe.
