Zach Ertz has played tight end for the NFL’s Philadelphia Eagles since being picked by them in the 2nd round of the 2013 NFL Draft. He made a quick impact with the Eagles as a rookie, posting 36 receptions for 469 yards and four scores in 2013. In 2017, Ertz caught 74 passes for 824 yards and a then career-best eight touchdowns. He proved to be a critical asset for Philadelphia in both that year’s regular season and postseason, where he added another 18 receptions, 192 yards and a touchdown in helping the Eagles to a 41-33 victory over New England in Super Bowl LII. His touchdown in the title game proved to be the game-winning score and put the Eagles ahead for good over the Patriots.
The next season, in 2018, Ertz set an NFL record for single season receptions by a tight end with 116. For the year, he tied his career-high in touchdowns with eight and also set a new career-best in receiving yards with 1,163. Ertz was named to the Pro Bowl in 2017, 2018 and 2019. The latter year saw him catch 88 passes for 916 yards and six touchdowns. Ertz was born on November 10, 1990 in Orange, California and went to Monte Vista High School. Ertz played college football at Stanford and earned first-team All-Pac-12 as well as unanimous All-American honors as a senior in 2012. He also helped the Cardinal to a Pac-12 Championship as Stanford that season went 12-2 after winning the Rose Bowl over Wisconsin and finished the year ranked #6 in the nation. Ertz is marred to U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team member Julie Ertz.
