Wesley Walls is a former NFL tight end who played from 1989-2003 with the San Francisco 49ers (1989-1993), New Orleans Saints (1994-1995), Carolina Panthers (1996-2002) and Green Bay Packers (2003). He enjoyed most of his success with Carolina, which was evidenced by him being named to five Pro Bowls (1996-1999, 2001) and earning All-Pro honors four times (1996, 1997, 1999 and 2001) during his time with the Panthers.
The 1996 season, Walls’ first with the Panthers, saw him set personal bests at the time in receiving yards (713), catches (61) and touchdowns (10). Later in 1999, Walls shattered all of his previous career highs as he enjoyed a 63-reception, 822-yard campaign that saw him reel in 12 touchdown passes. In his career, he racked up 450 catches for 5,291 yards and 54 touchdowns. In 2019, Walls was inducted into the Panthers Hall of Honor, joining such Carolina greats as Steve Smith, Jake Delhomme and Sam Mills.
Walls played college football at Ole Miss, where he earned All-American honors as a senior in 1989 before being selected in the 2nd round of that year’s NFL Draft by San Francisco, where as a rookie he caught a touchdown pass in helping the 49ers to a resounding 55-10 win over Denver in Super Bowl XXIV. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2014.
