Mike Rozier enjoyed a storied collegiate career playing running back at the University of Nebraska from 1981-1983 before moving on to the professional ranks. As a senior in 1983, Rozier rushed for 2,295 yards and scored an incredible 29 touchdowns. For his efforts, he won the Heisman Trophy, Maxwell Award, Walter Camp Award and Chip Harley Award. Rozier was additionally named the UPI Player of the Year and Sporting News Player of the Year. Rozier was also named an All-American in both 1982 and 1983. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2006. At the time, Rozier was just the second Husker to win the Heisman Trophy, joining Johnny Rodgers (Eric Crouch became the third in 2001).

After transferring to Nebraska from Coffeyville Junior College in 1981, Rozier made an immediate impact with the Tom Osborne-coached Huskers, rushing for 1,018 yards and posting a 6.2 yards per carry average. He had an even better performance in 1982, rushing for 1,807 yards — setting a Nebraska school record for single season rushing yards — while scoring 15 touchdowns.

After his days in Lincoln ended, Rozier spent two seasons in the United States Football League with the Pittsburgh Maulers (1984) and Jacksonville Bulls (1985). He was picked in the 1stround of the 1984 Supplemental Draft by Houston and went on to play seven seasons from 1985-1991 in the NFL for the Houston Oilers and Atlanta Falcons. In 1987 with the Oilers, Rozier rushed for 957 yards and the next season, he scored 10 touchdowns while carrying the ball for 1,002 yards. He earned a trip to the Pro Bowl for both campaigns. Rozier was born on March 1, 1961 in Camden, New Jersey and is a member of both the Camden County Sports Hall of Fame and New Jersey Sports Hall of Fame.
