Peter Vidmar won two gold medals in gymnastics at the 1984 Summer Olympics held in Los Angeles, one in the individual pommel horse competition and a second as part of the team all-around. He also won a silver medal in the individual all-around event. In 1998, he was inducted into the International Gymnastics Hall of Fame and is a two-time inductee into the United States Olympic Hall of Fame — one of only three athletes to be enshrined twice — both as an individual and a member of the 1984 men’s Olympics gymnastics team. He is the highest scoring U.S. gymnast in the history of the Olympics.

At the age of 18, Vidmar qualified to be part of the U.S. gymnastics team to compete at the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow before the country’s boycott of the games. He then competed at UCLA, where he captured five NCAA titles and in 1983 was named recipient of the Nissen Award, considered the Heisman Trophy equivalent in men’s gymnastics. After retiring from competition, Vidmar worked as a gymnastics analyst for both CBS and ESPN. From 2008-2015, Vidmar served as chairman of the U.S. Gymnastics Board of Directors and also served on the California Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness & Sports and President's Council of Physical Fitness, Sports & Nutrition.
