Andre Ware is a retired quarterback who enjoyed a stellar college football career and played in the National Football League, Canadian Football League and NFL Europe. Ware played collegiately for the University of Houston, enjoying an explosive season in 1989 that saw the Cougars finish the season ranked No. 14 in the country. Individually, Ware was exceptional, throwing for 4,699 yards and 44 touchdowns. That year, he was a consensus All-American while winning the Heisman Trophy as well as the Davey O’Brien Award, which is given to the nation’s best quarterback. Ware also earned United Press International Player of the Year honors.

He was selected seventh overall in the 1990 NFL Draft by Detroit, where he played through 1993. He moved to the L.A. Raiders in 1994 and the Jacksonville Jaguars in 1995 before transitioning to the CFL, where he played for the Ottawa Rough Riders, BC Lions and Toronto Argonauts. Ware won the league’s Grey Cup with the Argonauts in 1997. He wrapped-up his professional career with a stint in NFL Europe, playing for the Berlin Thunder in 1999. A member of the College Football Hall of Fame class of 2004 and Texas Sports Hall of Fame class of 2012, Ware has worked as a broadcaster for the Houston Texans, ESPN and the SEC Network since retiring.
