The Arizona Cardinals play in the National Football League’s NFC West division along with the San Francisco 49ers, Los Angeles Rams and Seattle Seahawks. The Cardinals began play in Chicago as the Morgan Athletic Club in 1898 and are the oldest pro football team in the U.S. The team joined the NFL as a charter franchise in 1920. The team moved in St. Louis and played there from 1960-1987 before relocating to Arizona. The Cardinals have played their home games in the Phoenix suburb of Glendale at State Farm Stadium since 2006. Prior to that, they played at Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe from 1988-2005.
The franchise won two championships while playing in Chicago – 1925 and 1947 – prior to the NFL-AFL merger. The Cardinals have played in one Super Bowl (XLIII) but lost to the Ben Roethlisberger-led Pittsburgh Steelers, 27-23.
