The Cleveland Indians compete in Major League Baseball’s American League Central division along with the Detroit Tigers, Kansas City Royals, Minnesota Twins and Chicago White Sox. The Indians began play as one of the American League’s eight charter teams in 1901. The Indians have played their home games at Progressive Field since 1994. Prior to that, they played at Cleveland Stadium from 1932-1933 and 1937-1993.
The Indians have won two World Series, in 1920 and 1948. They also reached the World Series in 2016 but lost to the Chicago Cubs in seven games, 4-3. In 2017 between August 24 – September 15, the Indians set an American League record with 22 consecutive wins.
