The Chicago White Sox compete in Major League Baseball’s American League Central division along with the Detroit Tigers, Cleveland Indians Minnesota Twins and Kansas City Royals. The White Sox began play as one of the American League’s original eight charter franchises in 1901. They were initially called the White Stockings but the name was shortened to the White Sox. They have played their home games at Guaranteed Rate Field since 1991. Prior to that, they played at Comiskey Park from 1910 – 1990. They are one of two Major League Baseball franchises located in Chicago (the other being the Cubs). They play their spring training games at Camelback Ranch in Glendale, AZ.
