The Cincinnati Reds compete in Major League Baseball’s National League Central division along with the St. Louis Cardinals, Milwaukee Brewers, Chicago Cubs and Pittsburgh Pirates. The Reds began play in 1882 as a charter member of the American Association and joined the National League in 1890.
They have won five World Series and were the most dominating team of the 1970’s when they won four titles behind the “Big Red Machine”, which included among others future Hall of Famers Johnny Bench, Joe Morgan and Tony Perez and manager Sparky Anderson along with all-time MLB hits leader Pete Rose. The Reds’ teams from that decade are considered to be among the best teams in baseball history. The Reds have played their home games in Great American Ball Park since 2003.
