New York Mets Booking Details
The New York Mets compete in Major League Baseball’s National League East division along with the Philadelphia Phillies, Washington Nationals, Miami Marlins and Atlanta Braves. The Mets began play in 1962 as an expansion team that replaced the two former National League teams based in New York, the Brooklyn Dodgers and New York Giants. The Mets have played at Citi Field since 2009. Prior to that, they played at Shea Stadium from 1964-2008 and the Polo Grounds in 1962-63.
The Mets have won two World Series, in 1969 & 1986. In 1969, the “Miracle Mets” beat the Baltimore Orioles 4-2. In 1986, the Mets defeated the Boston Red Sox, 4-3. The Series featured one of the most famous plays in baseball history in Game 6 when Mookie Wilson hit a single that Red Sox first baseman Bill Buckner misplayed, resulting in Ray Knight scoring and sending the Series to a Game 7.
Among the Mets greatest players include Wilson, Gary Carter, Tom Seaver, Mike Piazza, David Wright, Darryl Strawberry, Keith Hernandez, Dwight Gooden, John Franco and Ron Darling.
