Los Angeles Angels Booking Details
The Los Angeles Angels compete in Major League Baseball’s American League West division along with the Seattle Mariners, Houston Astros, Texas Rangers and Oakland A’s. The Angels were established by actor Gene Autry in 1961 as an expansion franchise. He named the Angels after a minor league team with the same name that was based in South Central LA and played in the Pacific Coast League. Autry bought the rights to use the name from Walter O’Malley, the former LA Dodgers owner. They’ve played their home games at Angel Stadium since 1966.
The Angels have one won World Series, in 2002, when they defeated the San Francisco Giants, 4-3. Los Angeles was managed by Mike Scioscia, who went on to become the longest tenured and most successful manager in team history. The mvp was Troy Glaus. Among the greatest Angels include Glaus, Mike Trout, Rod Carew, Tim Salmon, Nolan Ryan, Garret Anderson, Jim Edmonds, Troy Percival, Wally Joyner, Darin Erstad, Jim Abbott, Chuck Finley, Brian Downing, Reggie Jackson and Torii Hunter.
