San Diego Padres Booking Details
The San Diego Padres compete in Major League Baseball’s National League West division along with the Los Angeles Dodgers, Colorado Rockies, Arizona Diamondbacks and San Francisco Giants. The Padres began play in 1969 as an expansion team along with the Seattle Pilots, Kansas City Royals and Montreal Expos. The Padres have won two National League pennants, in 1984 and 1998. The Padres are the only Major League Baseball franchise not to share its city with another pro sports team (NFL, NHL or NBA).
The Padres have played their home games at Petco Park since 2004. Prior to that, they played at Qualcomm Stadium from 1969-2003. Their spring training home is the Peoria Sports Complex in Arizona, which they share with the Seattle Mariners. The Padres got their name from the Pacific Coast League team that played in San Diego beginning in 1936. The name refers to the Spanish Francisca friars who founded the city in 1769. The team is currently owned by Ron Fowler. Among the Padres greatest players include Tony Gwynn, Trevor Hoffman, Randy Jones, Nate Colbert, Garry Templeton, Dave Roberts, David Wells, Goose Gossage, Steve Garvey and Dave Winfield.
