Emmanuel Sanders is an NFL wide receiver who currently plays for the New Orleans Saints and previously played for the Pittsburgh Steelers (2010-2013), Denver Broncos (2014-2019) and San Francisco 49ers (2019). He was a member of the Peyton Manning-led Broncos team that won Super Bowl 50 over the Carolina Panthers, 24-10. In that game, Sanders led Denver with six catches for 83 yards.
He was drafted by the Steelers in 2010 out of SMU in the 3rd round. In 2013, his final season in Pittsburgh, Sanders set then-career-highs in receptions (67), yards (740) and touchdowns (6). Sanders made an immediate impact after moving west to Denver in 2014 and posted three consecutive seasons of 1,000 yards-plus receiving. In 2014, he earned his first Pro Bowl selection behind a 101-catch, 1,404-yard campaign, career highs in both categories. In 2016, Sanders caught 79 passes for 1,032 yards and again was selected to the Pro Bowl. He joined San Francisco in 2019 and helped the team to an appearance in Super Bowl LIV. He then joined Drew Brees and the Saints in 2020.
Sanders was born on March 17, 1987 in Bellville, Texas and starred in football, baseball, basketball and track while attending Bellville High School. While at SMU, he started three years and earned second-team All-Conference USA honors in 2008 and was a first team pick in 2009.
