George Rogers is a retired NFL running back who played seven seasons with the New Orleans Saints (1981-1984) and Washington Redskins (1985-1987). Upon entering the league in 1981, Rogers led the NFL in rushing yards with 1,674 and won Offensive Rookie of the Year. That same year he earned a Pro Bowl and first-team All-Pro selection. Rogers was an All-Pro again in 1982 and 1986, while also in 1986 he earned his second first-team All-Pro selection. While with the Redskins in 1987, Rogers helped Washington to a Super Bowl XXII victory over the Denver Broncos, 42-10. In total for his NFL career, he ran for 7,176 yards and scored 52 touchdowns.

The number one pick in the 1981 NFL Draft, Rogers played college football at South Carolina from 1977-1980, where he was a consensus All-American as a senior, winning the Heisman Trophy ahead of college football legends Hugh Green and Herschel Walker. That year, he enjoyed a 1,781-yard, 14-touchdown campaign that saw South Carolina finish with an 8-3 overall record. The Gamecocks retired his jersey #38 in 1980 and he is a 1997 inductee into the College Football Hall of Fame. Other accolades include induction into the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame and the Saints Hall of Fame.
