One of the best shooting guards in the history of the National Basketball Association (NBA), Jeff Hornacek played guard from 1986-2000 with the Phoenix Suns (1986-1992), Philadelphia 76ers (1992-1994) and Utah Jazz (1994-2000). Hornacek during his career recorded a per game average of 14.5 points, 3.4 rebounds and 4.9 assists. In 1989-1990, Hornacek set a career-high in shooting percentage (.536) while averaging 17.6 points per contest.
He played an integral role along with teammates Karl Malone and John Stockton in leading the Jazz to two NBA Finals appearances in 1997 and 1998. Hornacek was named an NBA All-Star in 1992, after establishing career-bests in points (20.1), rebounds (5.0), steals (2.0), blocks (0.4) and minutes per game (38.0). In 1998 and 2000, Hornacek won the NBA Three-Point Contest. His jersey #14 was retired by the Jazz in 2002.
Born on May 3, 1963 in Elmhurst, Illinois, Hornacek attended Iowa State, where he was a first-team All-Big Eight selection in 1986 before being selected by the Suns in the second round of that year’s NBA Draft. Iowa State retired his jersey number in 1991. After his playing days, Hornacek went into coaching, notably leading Phoenix from 2013-2016 and later the New York Knicks from 2016-2018. Previously, he was an assistant coach with the Jazz from 2011-2013.
