Amani Toomer is a retired wide receiver who played for the New York Giants from 1996-2008. He recorded over 1,000 receiving yards every season from 1999-2003 and holds franchise records for receiving yards (9,497), receptions (688) and receiving touchdowns (54). Toomer also had 109 punt returns for 1,060 yards with three touchdowns. In 1996 as a rookie, he led the NFL with an average of 16.6 yards per punt return. He played an integral role in the Giants’ Super Bowl XLII win over the New England Patriots when he led the team with 6 receptions for a total of 84 yards. Toomer was inducted into the Giants Ring of Honor in 2010.

Toomer was selected by the Giants in the 2nd round of the 1996 NFL Draft out of the University of Michigan, where he played from 1992-1995. In 1994, he broke Michigan’s single-season receiving record with 1,096 yards, was a first-team All-Big Ten selection and a finalist for the Biletnikoff Award. He finished his college career at Michigan ranked second (now currently fourth) in receiving yards in school history. Toomer was born in Berkley, California, and attended De La Salle High School. He was named USA Today All-USA and a Parade All-American.
