Bill Snyder was the head football coach for the Kansas State Wildcats for 27 seasons from 1989-2005 and later from 2009-2018. A 2015 inductee into the College Football Hall of Fame, Snyder is the winningest football coach in school history and led KSU to a 215-117-1 overall record during his tenure. The Wildcats played in 19 postseason bowls and recorded winning records in 20 of 27 seasons under his guidance.
Snyder was named Big Eight Conference Coach of the Year in 1990, 1991 and 1993. When the Big Eight expanded to the Big 12, he earned a further four Coach of the Year awards from the conference in 1998, 2002, 2011 and 2011. KSU under Snyder won two Big 12 Conference titles outright in 2003 and 2012 while the Wildcats won Big 12 North Division titles in three straight years from 1998-2000 and again in 2003.
In 1998, Kansas State went 11-2, appeared in the Alamo Bowl and finished the season ranked as the No. 9 team in the nation. That season, Snyder won a number of coaching accolades, including the Walter Camp Coach of the Year, Associated Press Coach of the Year and the Paul “Bear” Bryant Award. Additionally, in 1998 he was named the Bobby Dodd Coach of the Year and won the award once again in 2012. After the 2006 season, Kansas State renamed its football stadium in honor of Snyder and it is now known as the Bill Snyder Family Football Stadium. He became a member of the Kansas State Hall of Fame in 2008.
