Chris Chelios is a Hall of Fame defenseman who played in the National Hockey League for 26 seasons from 1983-2010 for Montreal (1983-1990), Chicago (1991-1999), Detroit (1999-2009) and Atlanta (2009-2010). Chelios won three Stanley Cup titles - one with the Canadiens and two with the Red Wings. He played a total of 1,651 games and, at the time of his retirement, held the mark for the most games played all-time by a defenseman (he was ranked 5th all-time for any position). In addition to his success in the NHL, Chelios also had a distinguished career representing the United States in international play. He is one of two male hockey players to compete in four Olympics – 1984, 1988, 2002 and 2006 – and served as captain for the last three. Chelios was part of the team that won a silver medal at the 2002 Winter Games in Salt Lake City. He also won a gold medal at the World Cup of Hockey in 1996. Chelios was raised in Chicago before moving to Poway, California. He attended the University of Wisconsin and was picked in the 2nd round by the Canadiens in the 1981 draft.
