Larry Mize is a professional golfer whose crowning achievement in the game came with a win at the 1987 Masters. After being tied with legends Seve Ballesteros and Greg Norman at the end of regulation play and after Ballesteros was eliminated on the first hole in the playoff, Mize defeated Norman after chipping-in from over 100 feet on the 11th hole. A native of Augusta, Georgia, Mize had worked The Masters during his teenage years and is the only native of Augusta to the win the tournament, which is played at Augusta National Golf Club. He also participated in the Ryder Cup that year and finished 4th at the U.S. Open. By the conclusion of the 1987 season, Mize was ranked #10 in the Official World Golf Rankings.
Mize recorded his first victory on the PGA Tour at the 1983 Danny Thomas Memphis Classic and went on to win a total of four times on the tour, including a pair of events in 1993, the Northern Telecom Open and Buick Open. He also won once on the European Tour and three times on the Japan Golf Tour. In 2010, playing on the Champions Tour, Mize won the Montreal Championship. Mize was born on September 23, 1958 and attended college at Georgia Tech.
