Lou Piniella enjoyed a long career in Major League Baseball and won three World Series titles, two as a player and one as a manager. He caught in the majors from 1964-1984 for the Baltimore Orioles (1964), Cleveland Indians (1968), Kansas City Royals (1969-1973) and New York Yankees (1974-1984). Piniella received AL Rookie of the Year accolades in 1969, made the All-Star team in 1972 and won two World Series while playing for the Yankees in 1977 and 1978. He finished his playing career with a batting average of .291, 766 RBI and 102 home runs.

After retiring from playing, Piniella moved to the dugout, where he managed the Yankees (1986-1988), Cincinnati Reds (1990-1992), Seattle Mariners (1993-2002), Tampa Bay Rays (2003-2005) and Chicago Cubs (2007-2010). While with Cincinnati in 1990, Piniella won his third World Series. He was three times named Manager of the Year and was inducted into the Mariners Hall of Fame as a result of his leading the franchise to the postseason four times during his tenure. He also skippered the Cubs to consecutive titles in the NL Central Division in 2007 and 2008. At the time of his retirement in 2010, Piniella had compiled a record of 1,835 – 1,712, which ranked 14th all-time in wins among MLB managers. Piniella also spent time in the broadcast booth working as a baseball analyst for Yankees games (MSG Network and YES Network) and Fox Sports.
